My Fishing History
Name: Steven.G.Taylor.
I started fishing at the age of 12yrs. At14yrs I founded my 1st fishing club at West Craven High school, this had about 15 members. We use to have matches on the canal Thornton Rock. and the Earby beck (minnow bashing).At this time I also started fishing senior club matches on Marsden Star waters at East Marton.
At 15yrs I came 2nd in the ALL PENDLE junior match on Foulridge Res.with 1lb14oz.
At 16yrs I started fishing Skipton Summer League and came 3rd overall.
At 17yrs I had my 1st ever Ton Up of bream. 101lb (including a rudd of 2lb14oz) on holiday in Norfolk.
At18yrs I fished my 1st C.I.U.National, also my 1st C.I.U.Reginoal (team came 2nd) and C.I.U. Northern.
In 1987 I started working part time in the tackle shop on Water St. Skipton.
In 1988 I was the founder member of the Craven Anglers. We looked after 3miles of the Leeds and Liverpool canal through Skipton town centre. I became Chairman and Match Sec. Running large Open matches (100 pegs) generating and handling funds for the club. I fished the Angling Times W/Lg. and Drennan Super/Lg. in vice captain and captain roles.
In 1992 I became President of Craven Anglers, but the club folded at the end of that year due to the B.W.B. putting the rent up to much and we could no longer afford it. In the same year I won a White Acres Open in Cornwall.
In 1994 I became one of the founder members of the Hyndburn Angling Centre match group at Accrington. Becoming vice captain and then captain of the squad, responsibilities included team selection and homework on the various venues which included Huddersfield Broad/narrow canals, Rochdale canal and Leeds Liverpool canal.
In 1998 I was asked to fish for the Yorkshire Evening Post national squad fishing the N.F.A. Regional on the Stainforth canal nr Doncaster getting 2nd in my section and also fishing the Division 2 national on the river Welland nr Spalding, Lincs.
I have won the Skipton W/Lg 3 times, Skipton Summer/Lg once.
In 2004 I started to teach my partner to fish. Who afterwards has encouraged me to learn and become the N.F.A. coach?
I finished my N.V.Q. level 2 on the 29th April 2007 .I have now become a N.F.A. Licensed National Coach.
I am currently working with local childrenโs homes and Tagged young persons as well as the police in the Pendle area and Shipley,[Bradford Met]. Burnley Youth Offending Team ( Y.O.T.).
In July 2007 I was asked by my Governing body the N.F.A. to coach @ the Fishomainia Final that was live on Sky Sports.
In November 2007 my partner Emma qualified as a Level 1 Assistant Coach.
